I'm looking at some of my friends' prom photos all over my facebook newsfeed. They're from other JCs by the way. And it looks like they all had a great time.
Tomorrow night would be my school's prom. My very first prom involving both guys and girls now but... I will not be going.
Some reasons would be
1. It is pretty expensive. Not going would save me (or my mom) some money. Plus I wouldn't have to worry about finding the "perfect" prom dress, get makeup and hair done in a hurry and all that jazz.
2. We need to form tables of 10 by ourselves. Sounds easy but if you were me or had the class I had, you would understand why and that's my next point.
3. My class is, sad to say, not bonded at all. Since we can choose to sit with people outside our own class, I figured some of my classmates feel closer to their CCA mates and would be forming tables already. Like a close classmate of mine had.
4. My class is segregated into tight-knit little groups. Sitting with any of the "groups" would, I predict, be awkward and... just awkward. It wouldn't be as fun. Trust me, I know. Plus not many in my class are going.
5. Shooters who are going would most likely sit with their own classes which are much more bonded than mine. :-(
So there. My JC social circle and life is just so pathetic like that. Sigh. I really envy my friends who have such bonded classes that they are practically family. They do everything together and I mean everything. I look at my class and I'm like zzz.
No offence to my classmates okay. I still love them as friends and individuals and in their little cliques but not as a class. That's my luck I guess. :\
Yes, prom is a one-night only thing, a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I shouldn't be missing it. Yes I will be able to see my friends in pretty dresses and handsome suits for once. I know I'll miss all the glitz and glamour, the rare chance of taking photos with my friends looking like superstars. I know prom would be fun, but only if you have the right company. Unfortunately, I can't find the right company and so I think I'll be happier having a movie marathon at home tomorrow night than sitting at a table being socially awkward around people I can't keep up a conversation with.
