life and friends

I feel like this is the fastest year ever. We're already nearing the end of May. Before I know it, I'm going to be starting on the next chapter of my life: university. There's a mixed feeling about starting all over again, what with making new friends, getting accustomed to uni life, deciding on a cca, vying for good grades, studying... I really hope I won't regret choosing and accepting this course and every other decision I'll make in this uni. Oh well, even if things don't turn out to be how it should be, I'll just have to do what I always do; suck it up and keep moving forward.

Been working at Gastro for almost two months now. I'm already used to this job. I think I won't quit end of this month, but rather work less for next month and then quit after that. I'll see how long I can tolerate the other staff.

Also started driving lessons last week! So far so good. Hopefully I'll be able to pass my FTT, complete the "syllabus" and book my practical test by the end of June. :)

Because any day can be Mothers' Day

I have been blogging for years and there is so much history on this blog, I suppose I should dedicate a post to my mom on this Mothers' Day. Because this is the year I truly started appreciating my mom. Don't get me wrong, I love my mother all along and have never once thought "I dislike my mom" or worse, "I hate my mom". I never have and never will do that.

As you may have read, my paternal grandfather passed away at the end of January this year. And around that same time, something else happened. I am not going to say it here, neither am I going to share it with even my close friends. No one has to know what happened, it doesn't matter. But it changed the way I see life, love, and everything else permanently. It brought my respect for my mom to a whole new level.

If anyone asked me who my idol was, I'd say my mom. Yes I know that sounds cliche but it's the truth. The one person I respect the most is my mom. She's the strongest person I've ever known. I am not even exaggerating when I say she had endured a lot of hardship since young, and most of the time she had no help. She went through hurdle after hurdle all on her own. I guess her experience gave her the characters I have always truly admired in her; strong-willed, independent, smart, calm, self-reliant, humble, tolerant, generous. And more that I can't think of right now. If there was a biography/movie/drama series about her entire life, I swear it'd bring out tears, heartache and admiration from anyone who reads/watches it.

I like to think that I've inherited some of her traits, and am more like her than my dad. In many ways I think I am.

Like all mothers they will age. Their bodies will ache more often and they'll tire more easily. Almost every night now, while I'm in the parents' room sitting on the carpet with my laptop, I'd help my mom apply lotion to her back and at the same time give her a massage. A way of thanking her for doing all the chores in this house.

Tomorrow night I'm treating her to a good dinner.

She won't be reading this because she is practically a computer-phobe but I just want to say that I love her SO MUCH.

And also, like what my post title says, any day can be Mothers' Day. I always think that this whole Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, Valentine's Day days are just a gimmick for businesses to earn money. Because, really, any of those "special occasions" can happen on any day you decide them to be. But I'll say it anyhow. Happy Mothers' Day to all mothers and mothers-to-be!

When your best isn't good enough

Do you know how it feels to be doing your absolute best to your abilities and even feeling like you've made improvements as the weeks go by but you still get feedback that you're slow and of no help? (Not in those exact words but somewhere along that line.) Worst of all is that the people who say that about you, don't tell you anything in your face and smile at you like nothing's wrong, but rather complain about you to the rest when you're not around.

Do you know how fucking demoralizing and frustrating it is? I'm already trying my fucking best and yes I do believe I have improved over the weeks. I do believe I'm more self-initiated, I do most of the things without being asked to. I do not think I do things slower than the average human speed. HOW FUCKING FAST DO YOU WANT ME TO BE SERIOUSLY.

Fine, I do admit that I am slow by default and I'm sorry if you find me slow but I'd rather be slow than to get all flustered trying to speed things up which would lead to major blunders. I'm sure you wouldn't like that. But I really, really am already trying my best.

Why can't anyone see that?
